Hummingbird Migration Map 2025: Track Their Journey
🗺️ Hummingbird Migration Map 2025: Track Their Journey
Every spring, a miracle happens. Millions of tiny birds, weighing less than a nickel, fly thousands of miles from Central America to your backyard.
Knowing when they arrive is the key to attracting them. If your feeder isn’t up when the scouts arrive, they will keep flying north.
Here is how to track the 2025 migration.
🌎 The Great Journey
- The Gulf Crossers: Ruby-throated hummingbirds fly non-stop across the Gulf of Mexico (500 miles). They land in the southern US exhausted and starving.
- The West Coasters: Rufous hummingbirds travel up the Pacific Coast, timing their flight with the blooming of wildflowers.
📅 Tracking Tools
You don’t have to guess. Citizen science projects track sightings in real-time.
- Journey North: The gold standard. Search for “Journey North Hummingbird Map” to see a live heat map of sightings.
- eBird: A massive database of bird sightings from around the world.
📍 Expected Arrival Dates (2025)
- March 1-15: Gulf Coast (TX, LA, FL)
- March 15-30: Deep South (GA, SC, AL)
- April 1-15: Mid-Atlantic & Midwest (NC, VA, MO, KY)
- May 1-15: Northeast & Great Lakes (NY, PA, OH, MI)
